I'm so sad today. I guess it was a bad omen when I found that website the other day. During my research about what type of bird I had nesting in my plant, I came accross this guy's page that had a web cam on his nest of House Finches. His nest had 5 eggs and the webpage showed many pictures of how 4 of the eggs had hatched and pictures of the parents feeding the baby birds. Then he noticed there were only 3 chicks one day. The next day there were only 2. He thought that they were falling out of the nest until he looked at the web cam video and saw that a Blue Jay was coming and taking the babies one by one. That's what happened to my little baby birds.
Today I looked out the back door and one of the Blue Jays that has been hanging around was tossing something in the grass. I went out to find out what it was-afraid it was one of the baby finches. I was right. The last of the baby finches was already dead. How could they get all four babies in 2 days?! I hate Blue Jays. They really are mean birds. I didn't really like them before this happened, but now, I just want to go get a BB gun and shoot the stupid bird. But, I guess that's life. Life really sucks when you're at the bottom of the food chain.
