Our 6th Anniversary

I love my hubby. He's the best friend and daddy that I know - and I have some good friends and I know some good daddy's so that's really saying something. Philippians 3:1 says: "I thank my God every time I remember you." So, Jason, here's what I'm thankful for.

Thank you for all you do for me and the kids that we don't appreciate like we should.

Thank you for helping me with the kids and the house so much.

Thanks for letting me stay home with our little rascals.

Thanks for putting up with my "not so attractive" qualities.

Thank you for showing a Godly example for me and the kids.

Thank you for loving me before I even knew I loved you.

Thanks for being the man that I can count on, every time.

Love you!

Mommy's little helper

Gracie really does try to help me. She was so cute the other day when I was folding towels. She thought she was doing so well and she was proud of herself. Here are some cute pictures of Gracie "folding" towels :)

Oooo big towel.

I think she liked the cup towels better.

So serious.

There you go Momma!

All done. Yes, that's the finished product. Too cute.

Sad Day

I'm so sad today. I guess it was a bad omen when I found that website the other day. During my research about what type of bird I had nesting in my plant, I came accross this guy's page that had a web cam on his nest of House Finches. His nest had 5 eggs and the webpage showed many pictures of how 4 of the eggs had hatched and pictures of the parents feeding the baby birds. Then he noticed there were only 3 chicks one day. The next day there were only 2. He thought that they were falling out of the nest until he looked at the web cam video and saw that a Blue Jay was coming and taking the babies one by one. That's what happened to my little baby birds.
Today I looked out the back door and one of the Blue Jays that has been hanging around was tossing something in the grass. I went out to find out what it was-afraid it was one of the baby finches. I was right. The last of the baby finches was already dead. How could they get all four babies in 2 days?! I hate Blue Jays. They really are mean birds. I didn't really like them before this happened, but now, I just want to go get a BB gun and shoot the stupid bird. But, I guess that's life. Life really sucks when you're at the bottom of the food chain.

I figured it out!

I did some research on the internet tonight and, as far as I can tell, I have a little bird family of House Finches. These birds above look identical to my little birds. Aren't they cute. I think I solved the mystery.

What kind of bird is this?

OK, I finnaly got a semi-decent picture of the parents of our little nest. Anyone know what kind of birds they are? I'm really curious.

The male is pretty with his red.

I wonder why God made just the males pretty.

Our Nest

We have a little mamma bird who decided to make her nest in my hanging basket. It was fun to watch her build it of all sorts of things as you can see from the pictures below. I would check it periodically, looking for eggs. Then one day (last Monday), there were two little eggs. Very light blue/teal with chocolate brown speckles. The next day there were 4 eggs. Yesterday, Jason said that there was one baby bird hatched. Today, there are 3! It will be fun to watch them grow and someday fly away. I wish I knew what kind of bird they are. Not a common sparow, I don't think. Anyways, I'll try to keep up with my little bird friend's progress.

My 1st 5K Run!!

I ran in the 4th Annual Run for the Children in Graham this past weekend. The money raised by the run goes to Virginia's House, a child advocacy center there in Graham. My sister used to work there and so she helped me get involved witht this run. We "trained" together (with Lon, too) so that we could run the whole thing without walking :)

Pre-race Christy and Lon.

Me - pre-race.

Our glamour shot :)

Post-race Christy and Lon. Don't even look winded.

I did it!!
It was fun. I was nowhere near the winner, but we did it for a good cause and got in better shape because of it! Maybe next time, I'll do a 10K!
